The Directors

Managing Director – Bob Hamilton

A ‘people person’ by nature, you’ll find Bob at his favourite bar (Era Bar of course) at the end of the day, eager for a chat, a laugh and a great story. Having started his working day before the sun comes up and working feverishly through a myriad of marketing and administration tasks, Bob is in need of some light relief by 6pm!

Born in Brisbane on an undisclosed date some time last century, Bob has always preferred the freedom of running his own business, having spent time in both the retail and importing fields of the automotive industry. In addition to his own ventures, he has spent over 30 years in retail management and hospitality.

He would tell you though that the greatest working experience of his life was going into business with son, Brad, to open the highly successful Circa Restaurant in Adelaide Street, Brisbane which was the 7 year predecessor to Era Bistro.

Sports mad, Bob is an avid Broncos and Lions supporter and a keen sailor when time permits.

Married to wife Jannette for 43 years, he is proud Grandpa to six energetic grand-daughters.

Director of Food – Brad Hamilton

When you dine at Era, there’s a very good chance that the person who greets and seats you will be Brad. His warm, yet professional, manner is one of the reasons why people keep coming back to Era. His reputation as a great restaurant ‘front man’ is the result of many years of honing his skills, both in his own businesses and in some of the best dining rooms in Australia.

After completing a Bachelor of Business in Hospitality Management, Brad spent 11 years with the Sheraton Hotel chain where he was trained in all aspects of Food and Beverage operations. At only 23 years of age, he was appointed Manager of Horizons, the fine dining room at the Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast, and went on to also manage Gekko, the signature dining room at the Sheraton on the Park in Sydney.

Longing to move back to Brisbane, he resolved to take what he had learnt and open a fine dining room of his own and, in partnership with his father Bob, he made it happen in 1999. The multi-award winning Circa Restaurant was born with Brad spearheading all of the food and beverage operations of the business.

After seven successful years, Circa was closed for redevelopment of the Adelaide Street site and the move was made to Era where Brad is responsible for all aspects of food service not only in the Bistro but throughout the entire Era complex. His attention to detail and unflagging focus on customer service is the cornerstone of the Era dining experience.
